About the Midwest Top Sportsman Association
During the 2008 race season there where two gentlemen, James Pattin and Brian Brown, that said enough is enough and started to promote and fund prize monies for the class of racers known as the Top Sportsman. The actual quote was” It’s time to put some fun back into this sport”.
After a couple of months a website was launched and it started to grow. By the end of the year, there were over 50 cars and sponsors joining in. Things were looking good for Top Sportsman racing in the midwest. Over that winter season it was decided to become serious and take the organization to the next level by starting an Association. The Midwest Top Sportsman association (MWTS) was formed during the 2009 race season and Jim and Brian’s mission was to have a non-for-profit organization for local and regional Top Sportsman racers that would keep the excitement in Top Sportsman racing and provide increased payouts to its members. We are a family-based organization with most teams being made up of parents, children and grandparents as crew, drivers and owners.
Over the last 10 years we have had over 75 members and over 100 different race teams compete in our series. MWTS is a diverse group of families with members in all different professions and communities. For the 2021 season and our 12th anniversary, MWTS will have seven races and travel to four different tracks in the Midwest with a fan base spanning more than eight states.
