MWTS 2015 Race #1, Rt 66 Raceway
The 2015 MWTS season hs officially begun!! The weather appeared that maybe our first race would be delayed, but a cool damp morning soon cleared and warmed up to be a great racing day! It was so great to see everyone again after a long winter. Our count was a little low, probably some due to the weather outlook, and some to very unfortunate casualties the weekend before. Testing at Route 66 had a couple motors go down, Div.3 Indy had a motor failure, and one of our original members crashed his car at Cordova. We hope to have everyone back soon.
So, Saturday morning we started the day with 15 entries. All 15 were MWTS members. We welcomed John Lynch and his dad Frank to their first MWTS race!! We are so glad to have them in our association! The other 14 on Saturday were, Tim Kirman, Ricky Sojka, Dave Green, Dave Howard, Chris Redden, Dave Espisito, Andre Harris, Tony Grzelinski, Alex Bosak, Mike Olenick, Steve Howard, Don Matiecka, Chad
Pekrul, and Robbie VanderWoude. Chad Pekrul has a beautiful new car!!
During qualifing we lost 4 cars to mechanical failures! Boy, our guys are having a rough start! We really hope
everyone is able to get all fixed up and no more troubles to anyone! Tim Kirman was our low qualifier with a great 6.70 @ 205! He was followed by Ricky Sojka with a 6.73 and Dave Green with a 6.82. Nice job, guys!
Kirman had a bye run 1st round and it was Harris over Grzelinski; D.Howard over Matiecka; S.Howard over Redden; Green over Pekrul; and Bosak over Espisito. 2nd round was Harris over Kirman; S.Howard over D.Howard; and Bosak over Green. The semi's has S.Howard over Harris; and Bosak had the bye.
Congratulations to our 1st Race of the season winner, Alex Bosak!! Alex and Zach you guys were tough all day!! A great start to the 2015 season! Also, congrats to Steve Howard and Jake Burkhart on your runner-up
finish. There was no perfect light in eliminations and the Bounty will be on Alex at the next race.
Well, we have 3 weeks off to heal all our wounded cars. Next race is May 30th and 31st, at Byron Dragway. Byron has made alot of nice updates to the facility. Can't wait to check them out!! Hope we all have 2 great
days of racing there! See you all soon, can't wait for Race #2 and #3!!
Happy Racing!

MWTS 2015 Race #2 and #3, Byron Dragway
10 MWTS members pulled in Friday afternoon & evening at Byron Dragway, all eager to hit the track Saturday morning. But, Mother Nature had other plans for us yet again! Yes, IT RAINED, and it didn't quit till late Saturday afternoon!! B.J. and his crew were relentless in constantly blowing water off the track and running the sweeper tractor, while we all huddled under Sojka's canopy and wondered why he was still out there, even in the hardest rainfall!!?? While the kids played in the "lakes" we all had by our rigs, and we all huddled under those canopies or stayed unside watching movies, B.J. had a plan.. He proved to all of us that
he knew, he would be way ahead Sunday morning with an already dry track and "THANK-YOU'', so much dry pits Saturday night!!! Thank-You B.J. and crew for all your endless hard, wet work Saturday. We are all
humbled and so gratefull for the time spent getting "the playground of power" ready for Sunday. I know that MWSC along with us are very thankful. So, I can say that I found out how to run the washer dryer in the
motorhome and dryed the "swimwear" some needed dryed, while watching the old TV series "Soap" with a few fellow racers. I know that across the street, they were watching "American Sniper" and who know what else was happening in there! Hey, Charlie, hard to sleep with grenades going off?? Bruce Carlson woke up and wondered if he'd slept till Sunday!!?? The last I saw Larry Dumke, he was headed for a nap! Us girls were all giddy to see the newest Symczak, baby Bryce!! It was his first time at the track!! Soo, cute! Later everyone gathered around "Griz's" pit to watch the Blackhawks skate to Victory!! Then, like mice, scurried away to their warm rigs!
Sunday morning was pretty cool, but SUNNY!!!! YIPEEE!!! In the sun, the new tower looks great! Couldn't wait to get out and check the new track surface. So, Race #2 was cancelled. Sunday will be Race #3. We
started out with 18 entries, all but 1 MWTS members. Nice paint job, Kyle and Larry Dumke, it looks Great!!!
First round Qualifing we had a very unfortunate incident when Robbie VanderWoude hit the wall. We are all so sorry Rob and Robbie. We hope to see you guys soon. We also had 3 others with issues, that had to load
up. So, after 2nd round qualifing, we had Dave Howard with a 6.97 @ 199 mph. as our low qualifier, followed by Scotty Haas 6.98 and Matt Symczak 7.16. Good job, guys!
First round was: D. Howard over Eddie Banderowicz; M. Symczak over S. Howard; A. Bosak over K. Dumke; Nick ? (sorry) over S. Haas; D.Matiecka over C. Redden; R.Sojka over J.Hochsteddler; and J.Lynch over
T.Vanacora.
2nd round was: D.Howard bye run; Matt over Alex; Don over Nick, and John over Ricky. Semis were: Dave over Matt and John over Don. Congratulations to John Lynch and his whole crew on their great job to get the win!!! John was so consistant and tough all day! Welcome to MWTS!
Also, congrats to Dave Howard and Team Tacchia, on the runner-up finish. Nice Job. The $50 Bounty on Alex Bosak went to Matt Symczak. I am not sure if there was a Perfect Light!?? Also, Ricky Sojka got a $30 bonus for having the fastest mph. He was over 200!
Next MWTS Race is June 13th and 14th at Cordova Dragway in Cordova, Illinois. Hope to see a great car
count. Till then, Happy Racing!

It's Sunday morning!! Here we go with MWTS Race #7. We were thinking Saturday evening we would have

MWTS 2015 Race #9, Rt 66 Raceway
It was a late night Saturday by the time the race was done and cars put away, of course meeting in someone's pit and swapping stories of the day over some good food and beverage, I guess it was about
midnight or later before most turned in for the night. So, then Sunday morning maybe came a little early for most of us?? Sunday morning we started the day with 18 cars, a nice field for Race #9.
Tim Kirman was low qualifier with a 6.74. ( sorry but I never got a qualifing sheet with times and mph's), so I'm not sure what Tim's mph was, but over 200 , I'm most certain. Tim was followed by Ricky Sojka and Kyle Dumke.
Round 1 winners were: Steve Jaeger, Brandon Baxter, Rich Kent, Ricky Sojka, Erik Carlson, Kyle Dumke, John Steldt, John Lynch, and Don Matiecka. 2nd round was: Baxter over Kent; Sojka over Carlson; Dumke over Steldt; Lynch over Matiecka; and Jaeger had the bye. 3rd round was: Jaeger over Baxter; Lynch over Dumke; and Sojka had the bye. Semi final round saw Jaeger over Sojka; and Lynch had the bye. John
Lynch took the win over Steve Jaeger in the final round. Congratulations to John and his family on their 2nd win in MWTS this season. Great job! Congrat's to Steve Jaeger and family on a great day! Ricky Sojka took the bounty on Dave Howard.
There's only 3 more MWTS races left!! Next one is at Byron Dragway on August 29th and 30th!!

MWTS 2015 Race #10 & 11, Byron Dragway
Everyone had a great time Friday night at Byron Dragway in anticipation for the final double race weekend of the season. The weather wasn't looking too promising for Saturday racing , but still had 11 teams pull in for the usual gossip session. Some of us ordered pizza delivered and was very good, and some cooked out, but all still met in the middle and continued stories and watched the future generation of racers play with Hot Wheels!! IT POURED LATE FRIDAY NIGHT!!! UGH!! But, knowing BJ and his crew we felt confident we would get the race in. It was hours and hours of track drying and we didn't start qualifing till after noon. It was decided by the track that it would be best if we only ran 1/8th mile. They had alot of breakage of other cars that were there and with clean ups and delays time just sort of stood still!?? The decision was made to just not try to run anymore of Race #10, as it was obvious that we would not finish. So, a meeting of drivers was called and voted to just double up on Sunday. Those who did make the first qualifing run on Saturday were: John Scali, Ricky Sojka, Brandon Baxter, Kyle Dumke, Andre Harris, Steve Jaeger, Chad Pekrul, Matt Szymczak, Dave Howard, Tony Grzelinski, Jon Steldt, Troy Finner, Nick Jozwiak, Bob Romano, Steve Howard, Steve Lehman. We would like to welcome Troy Finner to MWTS as our newest member!!! We are glad to have you aboard!! John Scali was our low qualifier with a great 4.38 @ 161 mph! He was followed by, Rick Sojka Jr. with a 4.39, Brandon Baxter with a 4.41 and Kyle Dumke with a 4.45. A few guys went up to make a test pass but most put things away for the day. I heard that it was a late night for few, not naming anyone!!! I guess a good time was had by all who were up till then!
So, Sunday morning and Race #11. It was kinda gloomy, but NOT RAINING!!! 16 cars Saturday, 18 cars Sunday morning. We gained Chris Redden, who just didn't make the qualifing pass Saturday, and Don Matiecka. After qualifing, Kyle Dumke was low with an impressive 6.72 @ 203mph. Great Job!! He was followed by, Rick Sojka Jr 6.75 and John Scali 6.83 and Steve Howard 6.84. Unfortunately, Jon Steldt and Steve Lehman broke and were not able to make 1st round eliminations. We hope they are able to make our last race in a few weeks!! 1st round winners were: Kyle Dumke, Brandon Baxter, Matt Szymczak, Troy Finner, Chad Pekrul, Don Matiecka, Steve Howard, and Steve Jaeger. 2nd round was: Kyle over Brandon; Matt over Troy; Don over Chad; and Jaeger over Howard. The Semi's were: Szymczak over Dumke, and Jaeger over Mateicka. Matt Szymczak was our winner over Steve Jaeger. Congratulations to Matt and his whole crew! You guys were great!! Congrat's to Steve and his whole family, too!! It was a great final.
The new 2015 champion will be determined at our next and final race! The Top Gun Shootout will also be run at our final race! Let's make it a great weekend at Byron Dragway on October 3rd and 4th!!! Hope we have a great turnout, and see you all there!!
Happy Racing!!
